Referrals: invite colleagues, earn a discount

Every Sessional account has a referral link. When a locum you refer starts a paid plan, you both get a discount on your next payment.

How the referral programme works

Every Sessional account is assigned a unique referral code the moment you sign up. When a colleague joins through your link, Sessional records the connection between your two accounts. The reward lands the first time that colleague starts a paid Plus or Pro subscription, not when they simply sign up or verify their email.

The reward is a discount coupon, not a cash payment. The colleague you referred gets a coupon applied to their first paid month at checkout, and you get a coupon applied to your next monthly payment. Both are applied automatically through our payments provider, so there is nothing to claim and no code to type in. The credit shows up on your next invoice, which you can review any time on your billing page.

Referral codes are permanent. They do not expire and you can share yours with as many colleagues as you like.

Finding and sharing your link

Your code and link live in the Refer a colleague widget on your dashboard. The link follows this shape:

Press Copy next to the link and share it however suits: email it to a colleague, drop it in a group chat or a locum WhatsApp group, post it to a professional forum, or add it to your email signature. Anyone who opens the link is taken to the Sessional sign-up page with your code already attached, so they do not need to remember or enter anything.

Good people to share with are the locums in your network who already juggle work across several agencies and direct workplaces: the GP doing sessions at three clinics, the agency nurse picking up shifts across hospitals, the pharmacist covering regional towns. When the reward is earned

The reward triggers when the colleague you referred upgrades to a paid Plus or Pro subscription. A free account on its own does not trigger anything.

  • Your colleague receives a discount coupon applied automatically to their first paid month at checkout.
  • You receive a discount coupon applied to your next monthly payment.

Both discounts are applied as soon as your colleague completes their first paid checkout. The credit shows up on the next invoice our payments provider issues.

Tip

On the free plan when your referral upgrades? No problem. Your reward is parked on your account and applied automatically to your first paid invoice the next time you move to Plus or Pro. You do not have to be on a paid plan at the moment your colleague subscribes.

Tracking your referrals

The referral widget keeps a running tally so you can see where things stand:

  • Referred: how many people have signed up through your link.
  • Verified: how many of those have confirmed their email address.
  • Rewards: how many have upgraded to a paid plan and triggered a reward.

Each referral also carries a status chip. Pending means they have signed up but not yet verified, Signed up means their email is verified, and Rewarded means they have started a paid plan and the discount has been granted.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get rewarded if someone signs up but never pays?
No. The reward is triggered only when the colleague you referred starts a paid Plus or Pro subscription. If they stay on the free plan, no reward is applied to either account.
What if I am on the free plan when my referral upgrades?
Your reward is parked on your account and applied automatically to your first paid invoice the next time you upgrade to Plus or Pro. You do not need to be on a paid plan at the moment your colleague subscribes.
How long does the discount last?
It is a one-off credit applied to your next monthly payment after the referral completes checkout, not a recurring discount.
Can I refer someone who already has a Sessional account?
No. The referral connection is recorded during sign-up only. If a colleague already has an account, a referral cannot be applied to it after the fact.
Does the referral discount stack with a promo code?
No. If a promotional code is already applied at checkout, the promo takes priority and the referral coupon is skipped. Only one discount applies per checkout.
My referral link is not working. What should I do?
Make sure you copied the full link including your code. If it still will not open, sign in and copy it again from the referral widget on your dashboard, then contact support if the problem persists.
